Guilin hotels usually have restaurants open in the evenings, with live music and dancing, although there are none of the rave venues you would expect to see in Western cities.
The Chinese tend to be altogether more elegant and would prefer a quiet meal with a fine view of the sun going down than dancing to loud pop music before reeling about the streets in a drunken fashion.

A pleasant walk around this attractive town in the evening, dropping in at a one of the many traditional small eateries along the way before heading back to whichever of the fine Guilin hotels you're staying at, is a pleasant way to while away the small hours here.

Try Guilin rice noodles, which are the local delicacy, or 'horse hoof cake' which is not as bad as it sounds.

This is actually a type of cake stuffed with local red beans and is cheap, tasty and filling and just the thing with one of the ubiquitous cups of tea.

If you'd like a real drink with some traditional live entertainment head for the Kaya Cafe and Bar, situated off a secluded street near the centre; there are regular parties held here, with concerts and even movies on special occasions.

Amazingly, there's even an authentic Irish pub, Le Feitz, next to the university, and here you'll not be short on loud party music.

The best bar in town is probably 100 C, with a wide selection of drinks and a very cosmopolitan and kynghidongduong.vn lively atmosphere.
